Technical Director
During development phase, the Wind/PV/storage Technical Director would be responsible and accountable for the overall Technical Workstream of its portfolio of solar, wind, storage, HV works, with the aim to reach Final Investment Decision (FID) as per the development plan. He/she is responsible to perform all the relevant feasibility assessments, design, schedule and price optimizations pre-construction with a specific focus on:
- Assessing appropriately the Business/Project needs
- Managing site surveys and technical studies performed by Third Parties (geotechnical, hydrological, topographical…)
- Assessing performance
- Performing preliminary designs accordingly and optimizing them (Generation/storage Plant and interconnection), in compliance with local regulations, in order to achieve the optimum in terms of LCOE
- Assessing CAPEX and OPEX, performing LCOE analysis and optimizations
- Defining the project schedule
- Managing Technical Due Diligences, with internal and/or external support, when needs b
In direct contact with the CEO/CFO/Development Director, he/she contributes also to business and economics aspects, with a focus on:
- Managing RFP, reviewing, clarifying and challenging EPC/BOS Contractors offers
- Managing RFP, reviewing, clarifying and challenging main equipment vendors’ offers
- Negotiating contract with EPC and other third parties
- Confirming technical inputs to be included in business models in order to justify investment decision and/or to convince partners
- Preparing and negotiating the procurement/supply contracts with contractors and equipment suppliers
- Preparing project’s execution strategy and set-up
- Reporting to Board and JVs relevant committees.
- He/she contributes then to the investment decision,
- During project execution, he/she is responsible and accountable for the overall coordination of construction of the project, with the main aim of completing the work on time, within budget, as per project requirements, and without any major HSE incidents. He/she will pay specific attention to:
- Overall management of the EPC contractor. Interact with the PM/board/CFO to ensure any potential contractual issues are pro-actively addressed.
- Guide the Employers’ Construction manager in his/her work on site
- Placing a constant and strong emphasis on HSE
- Being fully informed about the site work by, amongst others, regular site visits
- Identify potential risks and opportunities throughout the execution period
- Acting as a key point of contact with stakeholders, including, the local communities
- Liaise with the ED Manager to ensure that the overall ED targets are achieved
- Ensure that the O&M Contractor is ready and in place to take over at COD
- Reporting to Board and JVs relevant committees
- provides technical support to the execution teams, in order to deliver the projects on time, on budget and as per project requirements, from NTP through COD until EPC Contract Final Acceptance
- During asset operation, he/she provides technical support to the Asset Management / O&M teams with a focus on technical scope.
- He/she directly contributes also in building and improving solar PV, wind, HV works and battery storage technical expertise, with a focus on:
- Developing innovative solutions (products, processes, projects schemes…)
- Ensuring standardization of processes/procedures/templates related to his/her scope
- Managing Lessons Learned and keep up-to-date dedicated registers related to his/her scope
- Developing and managing KPIs and continuous improvement activities related to his/her scope
- Training and coaching more junior staff

Activities
Ideally, as a Technical Project Director you would possess the following:
- Graduate Degree in Engineering
- Minimum 10 years of experience within the solar PV, wind, HV works and/or battery storage industry, working for an EPC Contractor, Technical Advisor, Owner Engineer, or well-known IPP/Project Developer
- Robust technical background within the renewable industry, in terms of electrical or mechanical or civil engineering
- Business background in Renewables
- Specific experiences in both pre-construction and execution stages
- Experience working in a multi-cultural / multi-site environment, and in a wide transverse / cross-functional mode
- Fluent in English
