Our client is an international IPP investing in wind, solar, BESS around the world and projects already under operation in Poland.
As the company continues to expand internationally, particularly in Poland it is looking to enlarge its finance team with a Finance Manager Poland. This person will play a key role in structuring and leading the polish finance function to be a real support for development, acquisitions and ensure reliable financial reporting. This person will act as a finance business partner between the local management team and the Group Finance departments in Europe, ensuring alignment between local regulatory requirements and group financial policies.
In your role, you interact with the Business Lines Finance director, internal and external accounting teams, treasury, and financing teams based in Europe, as well as all operational teams responsible for the development, construction, and management of solar and wind farms based in Poland and other European locations.
Main Responsibilities
Business Partnering and Strategy
You act as a key member of the local management team, representing finance in all discussions and contributing to broader management topics across the business. You provide financial insight and advice to support both operational and strategic decisions, analysing their impact on the finance organisation and acting accordingly.
Working closely with the Group finance teams — including project finance, modelling, controlling, treasury and consolidation — you ensure that all financial aspects for the Polish entities are properly delivered and aligned.
In addition, you support M&A due diligence and integration processes when required, and lead or participate in cross-functional initiatives such as ERP implementation, reporting enhancements or process redesigns (this on a legal, system-technical, fiscal and financial level).
Financial Management and Controlling
You are responsible for the entire finance processes and reporting for Polish entities, to be handled with your teams, external partners and finance support functions of the Group.
This includes operational accounting, controlling activities, design of business plans, reporting to, preparation for audit, tax-related issues, quarterly and annual closures, cash management and ad hoc analyses, etc.
Besides your role as finance manager, you will also work on developing business plans and reporting. The energy business is in full transition and needs strong financial support, among other things based on challenging long-term plans and the monitoring and reporting of these plans. To this end, you use your knowledge and experience in the financial controlling domain and continuously challenge your business partner.
Developing and managing a local Polish finance team with the necessary competences to support the growth of the Polish business and to comply with the group requirements is key.
Job requirements
Your profile
- You have a master’s degree in economics and/or finance and combine this with at least 8 years of relevant experience in financial controlling and team management.
- You have relevant experience in the energy, infrastructure sector, or capital-intensive industry
- You have appetite and experience with building and guiding teams in a matrical, complex and fast-changing environment.
- You have good communication and negotiation skills and a sharp analytical mind
- Solid knowledge of Polish GAAP and IFRS. Experience with Polish tax regulations is a strong plus
- You are hands on, responsible, structured, and keeping an eye on the bigger picture
- You are fluent in English and Polish
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (especially Excel) and ERP systems
