Position Overview:
Our client, a leader in utility-scale wind and solar energy investments, is seeking an experienced Construction Director to oversee the construction of their large-scale renewable energy projects. While experience in renewable energy is not mandatory, the ideal candidate should have a solid background in managing large-scale construction projects, ideally with capital expenditures reaching approximately a billion PLN. This role is crucial to ensuring that projects are completed on time, within budget, and meet the highest quality and safety standards. The client offers a B2B contract.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Management:
Lead the planning, tendering, coordination, and execution of large-scale construction projects. Develop and manage project schedules, budgets, and resource allocations to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery. - Team Leadership:
Build and lead a team of project managers, site supervisors, and construction personnel. Provide guidance and mentorship to ensure the team meets project objectives. - Quality Control:
Implement and enforce quality assurance protocols to ensure all construction activities adhere to the highest standards and specifications. Conduct regular site inspections to monitor progress and maintain quality. Establish quality control procedures and conduct regular inspections to guarantee that construction meets the required specifications and client expectations. - Safety Management:
Develop and implement safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment. Conduct regular safety meetings and site audits to proactively identify and mitigate potential hazards. Ensure all work complies with building codes, regulations, safety standards, and environmental guidelines. - Stakeholder Coordination:
Collaborate with internal teams such as development, engineering, procurement, and finance to align construction activities with project goals. Manage relationships with external contractors, suppliers, and regulatory agencies. - Contract Management:
Oversee the selection, negotiation, and management of contracts with subcontractors and suppliers. Ensure compliance with contractual obligations, anti-bribery laws, and company’s compliance rules, and handle any changes or disputes that arise. - Budget and Cost Control:
Monitor and manage project budgets, implementing cost-saving measures without compromising on quality or safety. Prepare and present financial reports and forecasts to senior management. Approve and oversee contracts, change orders, and procurement of materials and equipment. Monitor cash flow and cost reporting systems to track project performance and make adjustments as necessary. - Permitting and Compliance:
Ensure all construction activities comply with local, state, and federal regulations. Obtain necessary permits and approvals for project execution and maintain compliance throughout the project lifecycle. - Risk Management:
Identify and mitigate potential risks to project timelines, budgets, and quality. Develop and implement risk management strategies to ensure project success.
Qualifications:
- Experience in managing large-scale construction projects, with a focus on high-capital expenditures (CAPEX) ideally reaching approximately a billion PLN.
- Proven track record of successfully leading projects from inception to completion, with a strong emphasis on budget management, quality control, and safety.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and guide cross-functional teams.
- Exceptional organizational and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills, capable of interacting effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Deep understanding of construction laws, regulations, and safety standards.
- Excellent financial acumen, with experience in budgeting, cost control, and contract negotiation.
- Fluent in English and skilled in English language contracts.
