Our client is one of the main players in Offshore Renewable energy projects in Poland, the US, Korea among other countries in the world. For their Polish team they are now looking for a geotechnical engineer or geophysics specialist to join their team as a Site Investigation Specialist. You will be responsible in this position for the analysis and investigation on currently developed projects while also identifying new possible offshore development opportunities for the company in large scale projects.

YOUR MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

Site investigation management & supervision – manage and supervise the site investigation campaigns and any related activity including arrangement of onboard client representation, laboratory testing and interpretation of geophysical and geotechnical data ensuring that results are delivered safely, on schedule, on quality and within budget. Ensure that the highest quality of work is performed and that the site investigation campaigns comply with safety, quality, consenting and environmental requirements

Technical specifications – responsible for preparing, elaborating and providing all the specifications and technical documentation to allow engagement with the correspondent contractors as well as evaluation of the suppliers, with the intention of guaranteeing the correct tendering of site investigation surveys and any geophysical and geotechnical activities, ensuring that the determining factors established by the permitting, environmental, safety and other departments are met. Ensure that all contractors are technically qualified and fit for purpose.

Technical support – provide ongoing and continuous geological leadership and support and liaise with other areas of technical department and other departments (consenting & environment, procurement, h&s, project control, etc) as necessary across the project lifecycle to ensure the successful completion of the project.

Reporting and Project Control – Maintain an effective and systematic control of site investigations and geotechnical support (in what concerns cost, deadline, quality and safety). Ensuring control of the budget, deadline and quality aspect, as well as assessment of contractors/subcontractors involved in the project. Produce monthly project reports outlining progress, budget, schedule, quality and safety statistics. Produce other reports as necessary during the course of the project.

HSQE – promote and work within the project management, health, safety, quality and environmental procedures and good practices. Actively manage the safety and personnel welfare throughout the term of the project. Liaise with hse department in arrangement of vessel audits, review of pre-mobilisation documentation, hse supervision during the fieldworks.

Support to procurement – actively engage and give geo support to procurement department in contracting process, in order to guarantee the correct tendering of the site investigations and any geophysical/geotechnical activities.

REQUIRED ACADEMIC SKILLS

Degree in Engineering (M.Sc.), Preferably Geophysics or Geotechnical Engineering.

REQUIRED PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

At least 3 years of relevant work experience for site investigation company preferably offshore site investigation company working onboard vessels and with data interpretation. Proven track record in sites investigations and geotechnical leadership of offshore wind large-scale projects will be an advantage.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE

Experience in a multi-disciplinary project environment is required. Demonstrable knowledge in all of the following areas is required:

• Strong geophysical and geotechnical knowledge and background on site investigation campaigns (geophysical and geotechnical)

• Knowledge of positioning systems, geophysical and geotechnical equipment concepts
• Knowledge of geophysical data interpretation softwares’ concepts

  • Good understanding of Polish Health and Safety legislation applicable to offshore works will be an advantage

  SKILLS/COMPETENCIES: Excellent site investigation management skills, strong communication skills; a self-starter who can work on their own initiative; strong interpersonal / team working skills; design management; project management.

  LANGUAGES: Fluent in Polish and English.
