EXPORT CABLES ENGINEER OFFSHORE WIND (B2B)

Our client is one of the leading private offshore wind developers in Poland. For their project team we are now looking for an experienced OFFSHORE EXPORT CABLES ENGINEER. The Offshore Cables Engineer is responsible for managing the technical and engineering activities in the Inter Array and Export Cables for the project.

This is a home-based position open anywhere in Poland with regular visits to the HQ in Warsaw or Gdynia of the company.

The role will also provide support on the cable system design, manufacturing and testing of the Inter Array Cables and/or Offshore Export Cables.

He or she will be responsible of ensuring that design solutions for the Work Packages under his/her responsibility deliver the most costs effective solution taking account of life cycle cost and system availability.

MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Responsible for the technical analysis and definition of the cable packages and ensuring that are in accordance with applicable standards, legislation, ethics, and good practices across the offshore wind farms industry, tender requirements, regulatory aspects and project policies.
  • Cable and cable accessories design, optimization, and specifications, in all phases of projects.
  • Cooperation with all relevant engineering disciplines (e.g., electrical, turbine, foundation, geophysical, geotechnical, O&M, value engineering) in the design optimization.
  • Manage feasibility studies, engineering, optimization, specification, manufacturing and testing.
  • Experience related to transportation and installation is a plus.
  • Provides technical support to other areas of the technical department and other departments as necessary across the project lifecycle to ensure the successful completion of the project.
  • Definition of consent and environment conditions associated with subsea cable works and management of compliance during project lifetime.
  • Maintain an effective and systematic planning and control of project electrical design and works (in what concerns cost, deadline, quality and safety); Ensuring control of the budget, deadlines and quality aspect.
  • Together with the manager provide risk management plans of the cable packages as part of an overall project risk management strategy.
  • Provide lessons learned on the projects and participate in wider organizational knowledge groups with peers across projects contributing to the application of synergies across the group
  • Foster collaboration and teamwork with the company’s corporate areas facilitating the efficiency in works related to the Project and alignment with company’s practices.

ACADEMIC BACKGROUND

Electrical engineering degree

A recognized qualification in health and safety would be advantageous

LANGUAGES

The project has an international team of employees and the working language is English.

Candidates need to be fluent in English both spoken and written.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

  • A minimum of 2 years’ work experience with a proven track record in subsea cables installation is required.
  • Contractual negotiation experience will be valued.

KNOWLEDGE

  • Comprehensive knowledge of standards/regulations and best practice associated with the design, manufacturing and testing of subsea power cables essential (IEC&CIGRE).
  • Specific knowledge of electrical and Scada aspects of wind turbine technology is desirable.
  • Specific knowledge of cable route engineering and associated areas including project surveying is essential.
  • Knowledge of electrical and mechanical design of subsea cables is required Knowledge of the latest legislation and guidance of the management of health and safety is also required.
